Let's talk about unions. Unions are no burden on the American system. Unions build up our systems across the nation. They brought us weekends off, pay raises, among many other things. Unions are the backbone of this nation. Now let's talk about the Colorado Springs Education Association and the Colorado Education Association and the importance they put on protecting our schools in our community. In 2019 when many educators went on strike over teacher wages, Colorado Springs protested for one day. Because of the work and leadership of members of the Colorado Springs Education Association, School District 11 came to a quick agreement of paying our teachers more. Director Jason Jorgenson believes that they are the ones to blame for failures in schools like Mitchell High School. I won't even begin to go down the lines of the choices being made at Mitchell High School, but what happened, the dismissal and reapplying/reconsideration of all Mitchell High School staff, was in no way the fault of the Colorado Springs Education Association. The fault is in no hands! Our teachers did their job endlessly with pride, passion, and truth being held. Unlike Director Jason Jorgenson, I stand with the Colorado Springs Education Association and believe without a doubt or hesitation that their work is endless. Let us stand up for the Colorado Springs Education Association, the Colorado Education Association, and the National Education Association. Their work is what keeps educators alive and going.
